Two cities in Colorado are experiencing tech-fueled economic booms, with Denver's skyline transforming and Boulder's gross domestic product surging. However, the influx of people and businesses has brought challenges like a growing homeless population, affordability issues and infrastructure strain. A recent report shows a 24% drop in Denver's cannabis revenue compared with 2021. As Gatorade approaches its 60th birthday, the brand is staying spry, branching out into new categories from unflavored water to energy drink mixes. It accounted for 63.5% of the U.S. sports drink market in 2023, according to Euromonitor International data. Gatorade President Mike Del Pozzo told CNBC that the competition is good for the category overall – and shows his brand's own strength. "There's plenty of loud voices right now, trying to make a name for themselves," said Del Pozzo. And Propel's annual sales are projected to cross $1 billion for the first time this year, Del Pozzo said.

One of them is Jay Marine, who oversees Amazon's sports business as VP of Prime Video and global head of sports. Chris Graythen/Getty ImagesMarine's next move could be for the NBA, which Amazon craves for its young, global fan base. Advertisement"For us, everything starts with Prime," Marine told CNBC in a rare interview last fall. AdvertisementApart from its big bet on "TNF," Amazon's sports moves have been largely incremental. The deal lets Diamond continue airing local NBA broadcasts, which makes it more likely Amazon will bid for national NBA rights, analyst Ben Thompson of Stratechery wrote.

Read previewMore people seem to be talking about canceling their Amazon Prime memberships. But new data suggests Prime membership growth may have bounced back in the US, after seeing a dip for the first time ever in 2022. The increase follows Prime's first-ever drop in membership growth in 2022, when CIRP said its survey data showed Prime "essentially stopped growing" in the US. "An increase in Prime members today means that more US consumers are finding Prime and therefore Amazon shopping is worth the investment in membership." Earlier this week, Amazon started showing ads on its Prime video streaming service for the first time.

Last June, on a whim, I canceled Amazon Prime. I still regularly buy things from Amazon with free shipping, but I'm happily out on Prime. After canceling Prime, I've been able to reevaluate the necessity of that ultra-fast, free shipping and have found it mostly unneeded. AdvertisementLeaving Prime also meant the end of free Amazon Prime Video, but I've been able to bear it. If Amazon Prime members started reconsidering and discarded the service en masse, it would be trouble for the company.

The rise of Prime comes at a time when key beverage stocks are struggling for traction. PEP 1Y mountain Shares of Pepsico have fallen over the past 12 months, along with its two main peers. Pepsi, for instance, is pushing newer versions of Gatorade with Gatorade Zero, G-Fit and Gatorlyte, as well as the Fast Twitch energy drink. Where to invest The exact impact of sports drinks on beverage stocks can be hard to determine. The big three companies do not break out the financials for their sports drink brands individually, and any impact could be outweighed by other categories, like Pepsi's snack foods.

You think and think and think, and you still can't believe that things changed so radically in such a short period of time. So, let's pull apart Apple, Amazon, Meta and Alphabet to try to understand how unimportant what actually happened at these companies might be. Instead, Apple stock has climbed roughly 5% since it reported quarterly results on Nov. 2. Meta stock fell to $288 a share, down from $314, in a couple of sessions just because of that line in its earnings report. But like Apple and Amazon, Meta stock stabilized and has risen more than 14% since late October.

In its filing, Amazon said it "prominently and repeatedly" disclosed key terms — including price and automatic renewal — to Prime customers. Amazon also accused the FTC of seeking to punish the company through "undefined concepts" such as "manipulative" website designs. "In a case supposedly about clarity, the FTC's purported standards are unconstitutionally opaque," Amazon said. The FTC's Prime lawsuit said Amazon "under substantial pressure" from the FTC changed its cancellation process in April, before the agency filed its lawsuit.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Bo Nix threw three touchdown passes and No. 10 Oregon emphatically slammed the brakes on Coach Prime's “Cinderella story,” routing No. But the Ducks' defense sacked Shedeur Sanders on third down, pushing him back 16 years, and Colorado again was forced to punt. Colorado avoided the shutout with Shedeur Sanders' a 6-yard pass to Michael Harrison. New York's 22-16 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills was the most-watched Monday night game since ESPN took over the package in 2006. The Jets have five more prime-time appearances scheduled, but two can be subbed out due to the league's flexible schedule rules. Those are the Nov. 12 "Sunday Night Football” game at Las Vegas on NBC and the Dec. 28 “Thursday Night Football” game at Cleveland on Amazon Prime Video. NBC can't begin to flex Sunday night games until Week 5, meaning the Jets' Oct. 1 game against Kansas City will not be moved. Amazon and Shopify announced a new Buy with Prime app for Shopify on Wednesday. Buy with Prime let merchants offer Prime benefits, such as fast shipping and free delivery, on websites beyond Amazon.com. Amazon had no choice but to let Shopify merchants view Buy with Prime-related metrics on its own backend console, not within the unified Shopify Admin tool, according to the internal Amazon document from April. If Buy with Prime data wasn't smoothly integrated into Shopify Admin, Shopify merchants might not use the Amazon feature much. Constant delaysThe internal Amazon document described a Shopify-native Buy with Prime app as a "flagship" goal for Amazon's top leadership because it would make Buy with Prime more appealing to Shopify merchants.
